DigiBeanz.com is an online family allowance system that lets parents award their children credit for doing chores around the house and getting good grades in school. We call these virtual credits DigiBeanz. One DigiBean is always equal to 10¢ of virtual credit.
As a parent, you set up a Job Bank for your children which includes a list of daily and weekly chores. You then assign a DigiBean amount for completing each task. At the end of each day, your children check off the things they’ve completed to earn their DigiBeanz.
Embedded in the site is our DigiBeanz SuperStore. The SuperStore is an online catalogue of toys, games, movies, music, and gadgets. Each item is listed with a DigiBean value, rather than a dollar amount. Your children can add these items to a wishlist. When they’ve earned and saved enough DigiBeanz to afford a product, they can request to purchase it. As a parent, you’re then notified of the request and can choose to actually purchase the item or not. If you follow through with the real purchase, the item is shipped in the mail and your child’s DigiBeanz are automatically deducted from the balance.
